The Pat Gawdun Quilting Ministry at Notre Dame of Mount Carmel Parish is named for its founder, the late Pat Gawdun. The Quilting Ministry is dedicated to providing comfort to those in need. By using our time, talents, and treasures, we share God’s love through our handiwork. The fruits of our ministry, lap-size quilts, help provide healing and comfort to the sick, the lonely, and the elderly.
Not only do we donate a quilt to Project Appalachia to use as they see fit, but we also give several quilts to Operation Appalachia for families in that area. We donate any Linus quilts that come our way to TABLE OF HOPE in Morristown. Some members also make food bags for the interfaith food pantry. We try to work with other parish ministries to help with their missions as needed.
Our ministry meets on Saturday mornings, every 3-4 weeks, from 9:30 am until Noon in the parish hall. We work together. We currently have about 15 active members but average 6-10 at each meeting.
All materials as well as basic quilting supplies and sewing machines are provided by the ministry; however, members are welcome to bring their own machines.
