Melissa received a surprise phone call yesterday from Walmart in Cedar Knolls. They had an excess of chocolate bunnies and were wondering if our parish was interested in them. With her missionary heart, Melissa jumped at the opportunity and reached out to Beth Vecchio who has been leading the food collection outreach ministry during COVID-19. They both headed to Walmart and filled their vans with the sweet treats which were later on dropped off at
Homeless Solutions
,
Table of Hope
and the
Interfaith Food Pantry
.
In conversation during the chocolate bunny pick-up, Melissa and Beth chatted with the manager at Walmart about the ministry's outreach and food deliveries to the various recipients in need. In response, Walmart will now be supporting the ministry's efforts by donating other excess food they have moving forward.
Needed: Chest Freezer -- "This ministry is really growing. We are helping to serve thousands of hungry people. We are appreciated by the agencies. However, we need freezer space. When you rescue baked goods (local bagelry and Anthony & Sons), there is an immediacy to wrap and freeze the food until we can distribute it. We are in need of a new or used-in-good-condition chest freezer for our outreach ministry. Please let us know if yo can help!" Beth Vecchio
