Dear Parish Family & Friends,
With great excitement and deepest gratitude we share news about the fruits of your generosity. During the week of August 12th, 22 Guatemala Outreach missionaries -- jointly with the From Houses to Homes organization (FHTH) -- completed the construction of four more homes (for a total of 28 built to date on behalf of our parish) for four beautiful, humble and very deserving families in the village of El Rejón in Sumpango, Guatemala.
Each home is 13 x 19 feet, made entirely of concrete block, with cement floor, corrugated metal roof with a skylight, metal door with lock, and a metal-framed window with glass. We can’t begin to express the deep sense of joy and gratitude so humbly expressed by the Guatemalan families during our closing celebrations!
In addition to the four homes, funds were donated to Clínicas Médicas San José (the FHTH clinic), which provides free healthcare to those in need; the clinic is currently experiencing a significant shortage of medicine. A share of the funds was also allocated to continue sponsoring the education of Alex Danilo, a young student at the FHTH Kemna ‘Oj School, and to support a gardening project at the school.
Many of our missionaries have traveled with the ministry multiple times and can witness to the transformative impact the journey has had on their faith and spirituality. This year we were blessed to welcome 6 parishioners who traveled with us for the first time. This weekend's bulletin reflects sharings from four of our missionaries regarding their experience this year. Be sure to check that out here: https://d2wldr9tsuuj1b.cloudfront.net/…/bullet…/20190825.pdf
We feel grateful for the privilege of serving our brothers and sisters in Guatemala and cannot thank you enough for your prayers and financial support in helping us serve in Christ’s name those in need in this little corner of the world.
With deepest gratitude,
The 2019 Guatemala Outreach Ministry
