Tonight (Saturday), we welcomed Bishop Serratelli, who celebrated our 5:00 Vigil Mass, accompanied by the always kind and helpful Fr. Kevin Corcoran (our altar servers love him!). It was a joyful liturgy, lifted by our usual amazing music ministers and the full voices of our congregation. Bishop drove home eloquently Matthew's gospel message: that we sometimes take for granted the genius and majesty of our Lord’s design of the universe and of our own individual lives, forgetting that He loves, cares for, and has a plan for each one of us. All that's needed is to trust and have faith in His plan for us today and into the future.
Allan Wright, Academic Dean of Evangelization at St. Paul Inside the Walls, spoke briefly before the end of Mass, giving us a brief snapshot of the theme of our Lenten retreat, which Allan will lead this Monday and Tuesday evening starting at 7:30 PM. Bishop Serratelli, who was once an instructor of Allan's at Seton Hall, encouraged us to attend the retreat, assuring that no one would be disappointed!
