Pope Francis has accepted the resignation of Bishop Arthur J. Serratelli from the pastoral governance of the Diocese of Paterson and has named Father Kevin Sweeney, a priest of the Diocese of Brooklyn as Bishop-elect of Paterson.

"We are grateful for the wonderful leadership of Bishop Serratelli over these many years where he has led us through the renewal of our Church in Paterson and specifically here at Notre Dame of Mt. Carmel where he has encouraged us in our own local renewal and new evanglization. We say thank you to Bishop Serratelli and we bid a great welcome to Bishop-elect Kevin Sweeney." Father Paddy
