Dear Parish Family,
It is with profound sadness that I report news that yesterday (Monday), a host of heavenly angels accompanied our own beloved
Jimmy Steiger to his eternal home and into the arms of our blessed Lord. We hold in prayer Jimmy's wife, Lisa, his daughters Allie Jude and Jessica, his dear father, Bob, and all his family and close friends.
Anyone who knew Jimmy was drawn to him, and our staff rightly called him "the Mayor of ND." He knew almost everyone and he knew their stories. You could usually find him behind the scenes, comforting, encouraging, regaling with sports scores, stories and his legendary puns, or just listening to whatever someone needed to share. Whether it was a pasta dinner, soup kitchen, a Cornerstone or Antioch retreat - basically any parish event - Jimmy was there and ready to help without ever seeking the limelight.
Jimmy, you will be missed deeply, remembered often, and parish life at Notre Dame will never be quite the same without you. You left us and your treasured family of girls far too soon and before anyone could ever have imagined. We will be praying for you and to you, that your life-giving spirit remains alive in our community and accompanies us on our journey forward. We thank you for all that you did for and meant to us at Notre Dame. God speed, Jimmy, and may you rest in His heavenly peace.
