This past weekend at Notre Dame began with everyone who entered our church receiving a nametag (a shout-out to all our fantastic table volunteers!). Faces that had become familiar to us through the months and years now had names. The camaraderie that resulted could be felt all weekend as people welcomed each other by name and, at Fr. Paddy’s invitation, prayed for each other during Mass.
Fr. Paddy preached a “vision homily” at each liturgy celebration, drawing from the readings in reminding us that we are called to bring others from the darkness into the light. He described how the journey began with God having first called each of us “by name,” and continues as we reach out to invite and welcome others into the love and light of Christ.
