After a week in mission, our Guatemala Outreach ministers returned home safely yesterday morning. Through the From Houses to Homes (FHTH) organization and with the spiritual and financial support of our parish family and community friends, four homes were built in the village of Pastores for four beautiful, humble and deeply grateful families. Funds were also donated to the FHTH clinic for free medicine for those in need, along with many jars of children's vitamins. Furthermore, our parish will continue sponsoring the education for Axel Danilo, a young boy currently attending Kemna 'Oj (which means weaving minds), the FHTH school. Fr. Jhon Madrid was an amazing blessing to the ministry this year, sharing his time, faith and very hard work each day with a different team. When not hard at work at the site, he was ministering to the families, the workers, the neighbors and the children – there was so much joy shared through his Soccer Balls for Joy ministry! In his usual faith and passion, he con-celebrated Mass at the Cathedral each morning (7am) and fully celebrated Mass on Thursday morning. Last but certainly not least (and just a few hours before Friday evening's departure), he celebrated the Baptism of Carmen Leticia, the beautiful daughter of one of the FHTH workers. Our Guatemala Outreach ministers are filled with gratitude for what they experienced this past week. As we move forward, it is their hope to share their stories of how Christ blessed their lives through this special ministry.
