Every year, each parish in the Diocese of Paterson bestows the Vivere Christus Est Award (“To live is Christ”) on an individual, couple or family who live as faithful stewards of God’s grace and generosity. According to Bishop Serratelli, “The goal of this initiative is to acknowledge the value and importance of the laity and to express gratitude and appreciation to those who unselfishly give of their time, talent and treasure for the building up of God’s Kingdom.”
Our parish family of Notre Dame of Mt. Carmel has chosen LORELEI AND MIKE KELLY as recipients of the 2018 Vivere Christus award. There are innumerable ways the Kellys have given of their time, care and attention to so many parish ministries and to the faith community of Notre Dame. They exemplify all that Bishop Serratelli intended when he instituted this prestigious award.
Since joining the parish in 2004, just some of the ministries in which Lorelei has served include Women’s Cornerstone, Social Events, the Funeral ministry, the Alpha kitchen team, and as an Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist. Embodying the ideal of “humble servant,” Mike Kelly has consistently and unassumingly provided behind-the-scenes support for virtually every major parish event, never seeking the limelight and always willing to take care of whatever is needed. In addition to their parish ministry, the Kellys are devoted parents and grandparents, shepherding, supporting, caring for, and providing faith models for their wonderful family.
Please join us in congratulating Lorelei and Mike, and in thanking them for the gifts they continue to share with our parish family!
